I was born in Charleston, SC and graduated from Bishop England High School. After high school graduation, I moved to the “BIG” town of Clinton, SC to attend Presbyterian College. I graduated and received my bachelor’s degree with a double major in political science and sociology. While at PC, I was president of the Student Government Association and a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. I married a Charleston native and a University of Virginia graduate, Katharine Phillipps. We have been blessed with two sons and a daughter: Reeves, Bennett, and Julia.

I am a member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, past chairman of the board of directors, and current board member of  Communities In Schools (CIS) of the Charleston Area, Inc. (A nationally accredited dropout prevention program serving more than 15,000 children in Charleston and Berkeley counties). I have served on the board of the Presbyterian College Alumni Association.

I enjoy spending time with family and friends doing anything in the great outdoors of the Lowcountry. I especially enjoy spending as much time as possible with my family at our property in Meggett. Whether it’s boating, kayaking, exploring, camping, hunting, fishing, crabbing, shrimping, skeet shooting, or just sitting by a fire in the woods. If we aren’t enjoying Meggett, we are enjoying Sullivan’s Island, Botany Bay, or Beaufort. If we are not on the coast, then we enjoy the North Carolina mountains of Hendersonville and Flat Rock.

Prior to my insurance career, I worked in the banking industry for ten years. I was an operations manager, branch manager, commercial and personal lender. I have been an Independent Trusted Choice agent since 1999. I am a licensed property and casualty agent and broker who can help you with your personal and commercial insurance needs.

I enjoy helping people understand their insurance needs and working with them to provide solutions to fulfill those needs.
